The New York Times has a great slideshow for “Books as a Way to Grace a Room,” in conjunction with the article “Selling a Book by Its Cover” which discusses assembling and designing custom libraries by Thatcher Wine of Juniper Books. This is where I found the exceptional work of Federico Uribe who finds inspiration and materials from Wonder Book and discarded text books in Miami-Dade County schools. When I lived in Miami for most of my life, I didn’t have enough imagination…
But how do designers (especially book cover designers) feel about the idea of rewrapping/recycling old books, and the realization that so many are tossed & gathering dust in used book stores that may be close to going out of business?

Entre Lineas is a one-off collection where unknown pieces are inspired by the traditions of ready-made. Through the Entre Lineas collection, MN*LS manages to add a different value to given objects and reinterpret them by the application of handmade techniques. Specifically, the collection is comprised of illuminated objects in a limited edition that appeal due to their rather poetic approach. Small hand folded antique books are turned into romantic and stylish lighting. If until now we were accustomed in using a light to read between a book’s lines, now the light itself comes from between lines, in Spanish “entre lineas”.
